For over 50 years working for the benefit of women and local communities
Czech Women’s Union (CWU/CSZ) is a women’s non-governmental, non-profit association with large membership covering the whole of the Czech Republic (c.10.000 infividual members in about 400 grassroots units). CWU associates women from all walks of life, regardless of their nationality, age, beliefs, political views, social standing, profession or interests. Considerable proportion of members live in rural areas. The history of our association goes back to 1967 with profound changes taking place in 1990/1992.
The main mission of the CWU is to pursue equal opportunities for women and men; to pursue women’s interests in our societies and increase their civic participation and capacities; to assist women in personal development in the form of e.g. training; to provide platform for cultural, social and other activities that are in interest of not only women, but local communities as well. An important component of our work is emphasis on development of community life in our towns and villages, in keeping and development of local cultural / folklore traditions.
